FTP Accounts
What's FTP? What?s an FTP account? When will you be needing one?
FTP, which stands for File Transfer Protocol, represents one of the most widespread methods for exchanging website files between a computer and a server. With FTP software such as FileZilla, you can establish a connection to your website hosting account and drag & drop files or whole directories in either direction and the software itself will take care of the rest. There’re several benefits of using FTP, including the ability to resume a download/upload in case there is a problem with the connection and the option to have different FTP accounts. Thanks to the latter option, you can set up FTP users that can access only specific folders in your hosting account, but no other folders, e-mail accounts or other info, which makes it the best option particularly if you need to provide a web designer with access, for instance. You can also use an FTP account with popular applications such as FrontPage or Dreamweaver and upload the sites that you have created straight from them, without the need to make use of 3rd-party software.

FTP Accounts in Shared Hosting
You will be able to create as many FTP accounts as you like with any of the
Linux shared hosting offered by our company, as we’ve decided not to restrict this service. In this way, you can have multiple sites simultaneously or give other people access to different folders. As soon as a certain task has been accomplished and you do not want that person to be able to access your website files any longer, you can edit the password associated with the FTP account or you can just delete the account with a couple of clicks of the mouse and stop worrying about anyone connecting to it again. The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, which is included with all website hosting accounts, will allow you to view the full list of the active FTP accounts listed alphabetically. It takes just one mouse click to administer various options for any of them – to update the access path or the password, to download an auto-config file, etc.

FTP Accounts in Semi-dedicated Servers
Our
semi-dedicated servers are astonishingly powerful, which makes them suitable for hosting an enormous number of sites. Speaking of which, we’ve decided not to set a restriction on the number of FTP accounts that you can set up, so you can have a different account for each Internet site that you host on our cloud platform. All FTP accounts will be shown alphabetically in the respective section of the Hepsia Control Panel, which comes with each and every semi-dedicated server account. For any of them, you’ll be able to view the access path and to change it, if necessary. What’s more, you can set up an account in a client of your preference by downloading an auto-configuration file and installing it on your computer system, which will save you time. In case you’ve never opened a web hosting account previously, you can check out our comprehensive how-to videos, which are available in the very same section of the Control Panel.

FTP Accounts in VPS Servers
None of the
VPS servers offered by our company has any restriction on the number of FTP accounts that you can have at any given time, so you can create an FTP account for any Internet site hosted on your VPS, no matter if it is under a domain or sub-domain. Also, it does not matter which Control Panel you will select when you join – Hepsia, cPanel or DirectAdmin, as an FTP server will be set up on your virtual machine during the configuration of any of them. If you want different users to access one and the same directory with their own set of sign-in details, for example, it’ll take a couple of clicks of the mouse to create a separate FTP account for each of them. Removing an active account or changing the folder that it can connect to is just as simple and you will not experience any problem, even if you do not have any previous experience in such matters.
